There can be a new challenger at the top of the Fantasy Premier League goalkeeper charts in 201819.

Martin Dubravka has been signed on a permanent deal by Newcastle United after a successful loan spell in the season just gone.

Instant impact

He made an immediate impact having arrived in the January transfer window.

Dubravka’s debut was at home to Manchester United in Gameweek 27, a 1-0 win.

It was one of four clean sheets he produced in only 12 appearances.

Dubravka conceded only 11 goals during that spell, averaging 0.9 goals against per match.

By comparison, Newcastle averaged 1.4 goals conceded per match before his arrival.

Indeed, David De Gea and Loris Karius were the only regular starting goalkeepers to better Dubravka for points per match.

The Manchester United and Liverpool players each averaged 4.6ppm.

Goalkeepers who offer a combination of save points and clean sheets are vital to the plans of Fantasy managers.

The top six players across all positions for points-per-million value were goalkeepers, highlighting the importance of not overlooking the No 1 in your squad.

Priced at £4.5m, Dubravka’s ownership peaked at just over 57,000 in Gameweek 37.

But the Slovak can become a far more popular figure over the 201819 campaign.

Should he remain as a cut-price option, Dubravka has the potential to claim a place as the go-to goalkeeper in Fantasy.
